Professional
Nico is currently a Graphics Software Engineer at Intel in Portland, Oregon. Up until August 2008, he was a Phd. student in the GAMMA research group at the UNC Computer Science Department (since September 2003), under supervision of Prof. Ming C. Lin and he has also been collaborating with Dr. Miguel A. Otaduy (currently at ETH Zurich). His research interests include physically based animation and simulation of rigid, quasi-rigid and deformable objects, adaptive dynamics of articulated bodies, hair rendering, and many other computer graphics related topics. He also has experience with accelerated numerical algorithms on graphics processors, such as matrix decomposition.
Personal
Nico grew up in the land of mussels, beer, chocolate and frietzakken. He lived, studied and made friends in various places such as Tremelo, Leuven, Grenoble and Zurich. When he finds the time, he posts random notes about his personal life to his weblog.
